Brett Ashmeade-Hawkins

Brett Ashmeade-Hawkins was born in South Kensington, London, England and educated at Private Schools in England and Jamaica and at Princeton University, where he studied Art History and Classical Art and Archaeology. The great-great-nephew of Sir Henry Hawkins, the 1st Baron Brampton, he is a descendant of the Plantagenet Dynasty of the British Royal Family and is related to many important titled British and French families. From his family in England he acquired an early love and appreciation of English Country Houses and English Art and Antiques. His Mother’s ancestors also owned Sugar and Coffee Plantations in Jamaica for over 200 years and he is deeply involved in Historic Preservation in Jamaica and is the founder of the Jamaica Colonial Heritage Society.

The Author of two forthcoming books on “The Plantation Great Houses of Jamaica” and “Jamaican Colonial Art and Antiques”, he is a recognized authority of West Indies Colonial Art and Antique Furniture. Brett Ashmeade-Hawkins is a well-known Art and Architectural Historian, a Collector and Dealer in Fine Art and Antiques and a Specialist in Appraisals, Estate Sales and Auctions, and he has over 25 years experience in Europe, the United States and Latin America.
